Where the Wild Things Are (2009) tells the story of Max, a young boy with a vivid imagination. Max often throws fits when others don't comply with his desires. After a disagreement with his sister Claire and her friends, and feeling ignored by his mother, Max runs away from home. Clad in his wolf costume, Max embarks on a journey into his own imagination.
In his imagination, Max finds himself in a distant world inhabited by wild beasts, including a creature named Carol, who shares Max's passionate temperament. Surprisingly, instead of devouring Max, the wild things befriend him when he proclaims himself their magical problem-solving king.
