Details
In the movie Wallander 9: Täckmanteln (2006), a harrowing discovery sets off a chain of events that Detective Linda Wallander must navigate. Linda stumbles upon a horrifying scene of nine lifeless bodies inside an abandoned container lorry. However, amidst the tragedy, she also uncovers a living baby girl trapped inside the vehicle.
As the investigation unfolds, Linda's father, a retired police officer, believes that the driver of the lorry fled upon realizing that his illegal immigrant cargo had perished. A photograph found at the scene leads the authorities to a convent, where they meet an abbess who herself was once an evacuee. The abbess reveals that she has been helping numerous refugees, believing that the means she employs justify their chance at a better life.
Meanwhile, the powers at play begin to reveal their dark side. Holmblad, the owner and driver of the lorry, is located, but not without having faced brutal torture and ultimately losing his life. Additionally, his residence is ransacked, further intensifying the mystery surrounding the case.
