Throw Momma from the Train is a dark comedy film directed by Danny DeVito, released in 1987. The story revolves around Larry Donner, a struggling writer, and his eccentric student, Owen Lift. Larry, facing writer's block and a messy divorce, jokingly suggests to Owen that they exchange murders: Larry kills Owen's overbearing mother, and in return, Owen kills Larry's ex-wife.
