In The Short History Of The Long Road, Nola, a teenage girl played by Sabrina Carpenter, finds solace and freedom in life on the road with her self-reliant father, portrayed by Steven Ogg. They travel across the United States in a beautifully restored RV, taking odd jobs to sustain their nomadic lifestyle. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when a tragic event separates Nola from her father. She sets out on her own, heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in search of her long-lost mother.
Unfortunately, her plans are disrupted when her motorhome breaks down. Desperate and alone, Nola meets an auto body shop owner, played by Danny Trejo. Despite their initial differences, Nola forms a connection with him and realizes the possibility of finding stability during this turbulent time.
