In 14th-century England, a young monk breaks his vow of chastity and goes on the run to escape the wrath of his bishop and fellow monks. While in hiding, he witnesses a murder committed by a traveling performer and becomes involved with the troupe of actors. They are mourning the loss of their fellow performer and decide to bring the monk into their group as a replacement.
As they journey from town to town, the troupe performs their usual morality play. However, their next destination takes them to a town where a young boy has been killed and a young deaf-mute girl has been accused and imprisoned for the crime. The girl has been sentenced to death for witchcraft and murder.
Unwilling to perform their usual biblical stories, the troupe decides to stage a play about the events in the town, hoping to uncover the truth behind the boy's murder and save the girl's life. As they delve deeper into their investigation, they uncover dark secrets and encounter resistance from both the religious authorities and the townspeople.
The Reckoning is a gripping historical drama set in a time of religious persecution and superstition. With stunning performances from the cast and a thought-provoking storyline, it explores themes of justice, morality, and the power of storytelling. This movie will keep audiences on the edge of their seats as they follow the troupe's journey to uncover the truth and bring about justice in a corrupt and troubled world.
