The Proposal (2009) tells the story of Margaret Tate, a high-powered editor at a New York publisher, who faces deportation when her visa expires. In a desperate attempt to stay in the country, Margaret forces her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to agree to marry her. Andrew reluctantly agrees, but only if Margaret promises him a promotion.
To support their fake engagement, Margaret accompanies Andrew on a trip to his hometown of Sitka, Alaska for his grandmother's 90th birthday.
