In The Parole Officer (2001), a comedy/crime film directed by John Duigan, Simon Garden (played by Steve Coogan), a well-meaning but inept parole officer, finds himself at the center of a shocking crime when he is wrongly accused of murder. In order to clear his name, Simon enlists the help of his former clients, including the computer-savvy Colin (played by Om Puri), the kleptomaniac George (played by Stephen Dillane), and the explosives expert Jeff (played by Ben Miller).
