The Dictator (2012) is a hilarious comedy film directed by Larry Charles. The story revolves around Hafez Aladeen, the eccentric and brutal ruler of the Republic of Wadiya. Aladeen is summoned to New York City to attend a United Nations assembly, where he is supposed to address the concerns regarding his country's nuclear weapons program. However, things take an unexpected turn when Aladeen is kidnapped and replaced by a look-alike, leaving him stranded and anonymous in New York City.
Aladeen finds himself navigating through the unfamiliar world of democracy and freedom while desperately trying to regain his power. Along the way, he meets a feminist activist named Zoey, who challenges his beliefs and opens his eyes to the injustices perpetrated by his own regime. As Aladeen experiences personal growth and transformation, he also faces amusing misadventures, including competing in a race, working at a health food shop, and ultimately attempting to reclaim his rightful place as the dictator of Wadiya.
