The African Queen is a 1951 film set in September 1914, during World War I. Reverend Samuel Sayer, an English missionary residing in German Eastern Africa, learns that Germany is at war with Britain, making him a foreign enemy. German troops destroy his mission and he dies from fever after being beaten. His sister, Rose Sayer, who is well-educated and prim, buries him and embarks on a journey using the only available means of transport, a dilapidated river steamboat called the African Queen, owned by the grumpy Charlie Allnut.
As the unlikely duo sets off on their difficult journey, Rose is determined to seek revenge for her brother's death and contribute to the British war effort. Together, they navigate treacherous waters and encounter various obstacles, including dangerous rapids, attacking wildlife, and even German soldiers.
