Tessa Altman is a teenager accustomed to the lively atmosphere of the big city. However, when her father decides to uproot their lives and move them to the seemingly idyllic suburban town of Chatswin, Tessa must adjust to her new surroundings.

In Suburgatory, Tessa finds herself in a world vastly different from what she's accustomed to. Chatswin is a picture-perfect town, complete with manicured lawns, cookie-cutter houses, and overbearing PTA moms. Tessa quickly realizes that life in the suburbs is not as tranquil as it appears.

As she navigates this new world, Tessa encounters various eccentric characters who challenge her preconceived notions about suburban life. She befriends Lisa, a quirky and socially awkward classmate, and develops a complicated relationship with Lisa's overprotective father, George.
