Young Dante Alighieri inherits 17 million from his father the sausage maker on one condition - he has to give up smoking in 14 days. But the days go on and he simply can't quit. He hires a detective agency to physically stop him. He has an uncle, who inherits the money if Dante fails, and the uncle tries to keep him smoking.

Eva is a very talented and able college girl. In the summer she is going to work at a farm. There she meets a different world of unwanted children, desires and temporary relationships.

Young Karl-Bertil dreams of becoming a modern-day Robin Hood. He spends the Christmas holiday working at the Post Office and makes sure that some of the Christmas gifts to the wealthy people are distributed to the less fortunate of the society.
