Although many years have passed, the problems faced by the Homicide Department of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police remain painfully relevant. Officers continue to confront violence, death, and the dark aspects of human nature every single day. Joining the seasoned detectives Banaś and Jóźwiak is a young, ambitious police officer - Tamara Rudnik.

In 1983, communist Poland is shaken by the case of high school student Grzegorz Przemyk, who is beaten to death by police. The only witness of the beating becomes the number one enemy of the state.

Middle-aged Joanna tries tirelessly to reconcile being a mother, daughter, grandmother, wife, lover, housewife and high-school teacher. But she seems to be losing her patience.
