In the sci-fi film Starman (1984), a young widow named Jenny Hayden is shocked when an alien takes on the form of her late husband, Scott, who died several months ago. The alien has arrived on Earth in response to Voyager 2's Golden Record, seeking to understand humanity. Terrified at first, Jenny reluctantly agrees to help the alien, now called Starman, reach a designated point in Arizona where he can be picked up by his kind.
As they embark on a cross-country road trip, Jenny and Starman face numerous challenges. Distrustful government agents hot on their trail, led by the determined and ruthless George Fox, are determined to capture Starman. Meanwhile, a more compassionate scientist named Mark Shermin is torn between assisting the government and helping Starman.
