Details
Livvakterna (2001) is a thrilling Swedish film that follows Falk, a former troublemaking operative who reluctantly accepts a desk job after causing chaos on his last assignment. However, Falk's restless personality leads him to join a private investigation agency owned by an old friend.
Meanwhile, Falk's friend Sven faces a dangerous situation in Estonia. Local gangsters demand protection money from Sven, who then hires Nikolaus Lehmann, a powerful private eye, to scare them off. However, Lehmann goes too far, brutally murdering the gangsters and then threatening Sven and his family.
With no other options, Sven turns to Falk for help. Falk agrees, but soon realizes that Lehmann is a far more dangerous adversary than he initially thought. Lehmann kidnaps Sven's wife, Jeanette, attaching a time bomb to her neck and demanding ownership of Sven's company in exchange for her release.
As Falk races against the clock to save Jeanette, he must navigate treacherous alliances and face the reality that he may have underestimated Lehmann's cunning and ruthlessness. The film builds tension as Falk is forced to confront his own limitations to save his friend and his friend's family from a sadistic killer.
