Summary: Kingpin (1996) follows the story of Roy Munson, a skilled bowler who was raised by his father to be the best in the world. However, a run-in with fellow bowler Ernie McCracken and a group of thugs results in Roy losing his hand. Determined not to let this setback defeat him, Roy acquires a prosthetic hand and becomes a traveling salesman.
But Roy's life takes a downward spiral until he meets Ishmael, an Amish man who secretly enjoys bowling. Roy convinces Ishmael to let him be his trainer, promising to make him the greatest bowler in the world.
Reluctantly, Ishmael agrees, and the unlikely duo embarks on a journey to conquer the world of professional bowling. Along the way, they encounter numerous challenges, including rival bowlers and personal setbacks. However, their friendship and determination push them forward.
