The movie begins with a brief background on the state of Earth in the year 2139. The population has crowded into Mega-Cities due to the desolation of the Cursed Earth. The lawlessness and violence in these cities have led to the collapse of the traditional justice system.
To combat the chaos, a new justice system emerged: the Judges. They are both police officers and judges, with the power to arrest, judge, and execute criminals. Among them, Joseph Dredd is regarded as the toughest and most ruthless.
However, Dredd's world is turned upside down when he is falsely accused of murder. On the run, he must navigate the treacherous streets of Mega-City One to find evidence of his innocence. Along the way, he teams up with a rookie Judge named Cassandra Anderson, who possesses psychic abilities.
