In Ghostbusters - spökligan (1984), three parapsychologists find themselves without funding from their university and decide to start their own ghost removal service in New York City. Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, and Dr. Egon Spengler begin their operation, attracting both terrified and skeptical customers.
As the team investigates various paranormal incidents around the city, they encounter a wide range of ghosts and supernatural entities. Along the way, they recruit Winston Zeddemore, an addition to the team who provides a fresh perspective.
The Ghostbusters soon discover a significant increase in ghost activity, which leads them to uncover a plot by an ancient Sumerian god named Gozer to bring about the end of the world. With New York City on the brink of destruction, it is up to the team to save the day and prevent the apocalypse.
