In the small town of Odessa, Texas, life is bleak and the community is racially divided and economically struggling. However, there is one night that brings the town together and gives them something to cheer for: Friday Night. The high school football team, the Permian Panthers, has a long-standing winning tradition, led by star quarterback Mike Winchell and talented tailback Boobie Miles.
