Dormitory

Dormitory (2023) follows the story of twelve-year-old Ahmet, who is sent to an Islamic dormitory, known as a Yurt, by his newly religious father in order to learn Muslim values. Despite feeling devastated by this sudden change, Ahmet's father believes it to be the righteous path for his son as well as an opportunity for him to lead a more disciplined life. As Ahmet navigates his new surroundings and the strict rules that come with it, he begins to question his own beliefs and understanding of Islam.

Throughout the film, Ahmet's journey in the Yurt forces him to confront his own identity and find a balance between his faith, family expectations, and personal desires. As he forms bonds with other students and experiences the challenges of living in the dormitory, Ahmet learns valuable life lessons and gains a greater understanding of his place in the world. Dormitory (2023) is a poignant coming-of-age story that explores themes of faith, family, and self-discovery in a unique and compelling way.
