During the last days of the American Civil War, a soldier named Inman gets wounded and decides to make a treacherous journey back to his hometown of Cold Mountain, North Carolina. Inman is determined to reunite with his beloved, Ada, and in doing so, he must face numerous obstacles, both physical and emotional.
