Details
In the movie Chernobyl Diaries, Americans Chris, Natalie, and Amanda embark on a European vacation, meeting up with Chris' brother Paul in Kiev, Ukraine. While Chris intends to propose to Natalie in Moscow, Paul convinces them to join him on an extreme tourism trip to Chernobyl. They meet their guide Uri and another couple also participating in the tour. Due to radiation levels, Uri can only take them to the nearby deserted city of Pripyat.
After encountering a military checkpoint, the group is forced to turn back. Undeterred, Uri finds an alternate route and they continue their journey. They spend the day exploring abandoned buildings and capturing photographs. However, as Uri becomes increasingly anxious, he decides it is time to return home. Their van fails to start, and the group discovers that the engine has been sabotaged. Stranded, they realize that no one knows their whereabouts and they are not alone in the area.
