Broarna i Madison County is a heartfelt and bittersweet romance film set in the summer of 1965. Francesca Johnson, a war bride from Italy, finds her predictable life taking an unexpected turn when she encounters Robert Kincaid, a stranger who happens upon her family farm. He is on assignment from National Geographic, searching for Roseman Bridge. Reluctantly, Francesca agrees to show him the way. As they spend time together, she opens up about her life, setting the pace for a brief yet passionate romance.
Francesca, feeling compelled to document their love, writes about their four-day affair in three journals. After her passing, her children discover the journals while going through her things. The children learn from the diaries the importance of pursuing happiness in life, and they find a key to Francesca's hope chest. Inside, they uncover mementos of Francesca and Robert's relationship.
Discovering that their mother wished to have her ashes scattered off Roseman Bridge, just as Robert's were, the children must decide whether to honor her final wishes or follow their original plan of burying her alongside their father.
Based on the novel by Robert James Waller, Broarna i Madison County tells a story of a once-in-a-lifetime love that can change everything. This film captures the pain of separation, the power of love, and the importance of following your heart.
