In Austenland, Jane Hayes is a thirty-something single woman with a not-so-secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, specifically Colin Firth's portrayal in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. This obsession has made it impossible for Jane to find love in real life, as no man can live up to her impossibly high standards.
Desperate for a change, Jane decides to use her life savings and embark on a trip to an English resort that caters to Austen-obsessed women like herself. The resort promises to transport guests back to the Regency-era, allowing them to live out their Jane Austen fantasies and maybe even find love.
As soon as Jane arrives, she finds herself surrounded by like-minded women who all share her love for Austen's world. However, she soon discovers that things are not as idyllic as she had imagined. The resort's owner, Mrs. Wattlesbrook, is a stern and controlling figure who seems determined to keep the guests in the fantasy world rather than allowing them to find genuine connections.
Despite the challenges, Jane finds herself caught up in a love triangle between two potential suitors: the suave and charming Mr. Henry Nobley and the more down-to-earth and genuine Martin.
