In the movie The Book of Eli, set in a violent post-apocalyptic society, a mysterious drifter named Eli has been trekking westwards across North America for three decades. Surviving by hunting small animals and scavenging for supplies in ruined buildings and vehicles, he carries a precious book that he guards with his life. The book holds great significance to him, providing solace and purpose in his desolate existence.
Eli comes across a village ruled by the ruthless mobster Carnegie. Impressed by Eli's exceptional fighting skills, Carnegie offers him a position in his gang. Taking a special interest in Eli, Carnegie instructs his blind lover Claudia to send her daughter Solara to seduce him. However, Eli demonstrates his integrity by refusing Solara's advances, earning the respect of the young girl.
