Alex is boarding his plane to France on a school trip, when he suddenly gets a premonition that the plane will explode. In Final Destination (2000), Alex boards a plane with his classmates for a school trip to France when he has a horrifying premonition that the plane will explode mid-flight. Panicking, Alex and a group of students are forced off the plane just moments before it actually explodes. As the survivors try to come to terms with their near-death experience, they soon realize that Death may have a plan for them. One by one, they start to meet gruesome and mysterious deaths, and Alex must unravel the pattern to save himself and his friends from their fate.

Simultaneously, Alex finds himself being pursued by the FBI, who suspect him of causing the plane explosion. With each passing death, the pressure intensifies as he becomes the prime suspect in a string of accidents and tries to stay one step ahead of both Death and the authorities.
