Den mest kända av de deltagande reportrarna Janne Josefsson, men den redaktionella personalen består av ca 30 personer, med huvudkontor i Göteborg. Utgivaren Nils Hanson som är projektledare för programmet serien. Programmet började sändas den 17 januari 2001 [1] och ersättas Norr Tidningen, och Reportrar. Programmet sänds 45 veckor per år och når varje vecka (2011), cirka tio procent av befolkningen. Uppdrag granskning har stort genomslag i den offentliga debatten och har sedan 2001 varit erövrat en lång rad nationella och internationella utmärkelser.
