Brave New World

TV adaptation of Aldous Huxley's book set in dystopian future.

Details

Brave New World (2020–) is an enthralling TV adaptation of Aldous Huxley's renowned dystopian novel. Set in a future society known as New London, the show explores a world free of poverty, disease, and war, where citizens are bred and conditioned to be content. Personal freedom, however, is nonexistent, as the government controls every aspect of people's lives.

In New London, monogamy is suppressed, and relationships are based on sexual freedom and temporary liaisons. Every citizen is assigned a role from birth, with Alphas making up the ruling class and Epsilons forming the lowest tier. However, a revolt is brewing beneath the surface as some individuals begin to question the established order and the use of drugs that control their emotions.

The series follows the lives of two main characters: Bernard Marx, an Alpha Plus who struggles with his dissatisfaction despite enjoying privileges, and Lenina Crowne, a Beta Plus who embarks on a forbidden relationship with Bernard. As they confront the limits of their society, they encounter John the Savage, an outsider from a Savage Reservation, who challenges their beliefs and becomes an influential figure in their lives.

Brave New World delves into themes of individualism, totalitarianism, and the pursuit of a utopian society. With its thought-provoking narrative and compelling characters, this adaptation offers a visually stunning and captivating experience that will leave viewers questioning the implications of a seemingly perfect world.
