Separated from her husband Bill, who is currently incarcerated for being a pedophile, Trish is preparing to marry Harvey, a stepfather figure she believes will bring normalcy to her two sons' lives. However, when Bill is released from prison and meets his future stepsons, the family is faced with a difficult decision - to forgive or to forget. Meanwhile, Trish's sister, Joy, is dealing with her own demons. Taking a break from her problematic husband and her job at a correctional facility, Joy unintentionally leaves a trail of shame and secrets wherever she goes. In one particularly visually striking scene, Joy's innocence is juxtaposed against her own desires and self-destructive tendencies as she walks the dark streets of Miami in her nightgown.
