Details

In the film Sons of the Desert (1933), Ollie and Stan hatch a plan to attend the annual Sons of the Desert lodge convention in Chicago. To make their escape possible, Ollie pretends to be sick and convinces a veterinarian posing as a doctor to prescribe a long ocean voyage to Hawaii. The duo decides to go along with the plan and joyfully embark on their adventure, donning leis and playing the ukelele.

However, when they return home, they receive shocking news that the ship they were supposedly on has sunk. Not wanting to reveal the truth, Ollie and Stan quickly come up with a story about ship-hiking their way back to cover their tracks. Unfortunately, their wives are unimpressed and skeptical, as they had just watched a newsreel of the lodge's convention parade, which prominently featured Ollie and Stan.

Directed by William A. Seiter and starring the iconic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, Sons of the Desert is a hilarious and light-hearted comedy that showcases their impeccable comedic timing and absurd situations. Filled with mistaken identities, comical misunderstandings, and a delightful portrayal of the camaraderie between its characters, the film promises to keep audiences entertained from start to finish. Join Laurel and Hardy in this comedic adventure as they navigate their way through a web of lies and hilariously desperate attempts to cover up their secret convention escapade. Will they be able to maintain their charade or will the truth come crashing down around them?
