Skammen

In Skammen, set during a civil war, two musicians decide to retreat to a rural island and become farmers. They are not interested in politics and lead a simple life, relying on their neighbor for occasional fish and cherishing wine as a luxury. Despite their love for each other, the couple faces some challenges in their relationship. The war negatively affects Jan, making him emotional and sensitive, while Eva desires to have children, a wish that Jan does not share.

Suddenly, the war comes to their doorstep as rebels attack and their neighbors lose their lives. When the other side gains control again, Jan and Eva are arrested and accused of being collaborators. They face a terrifying ordeal of interrogation and violence at the hands of the local colonel. In a surprising twist, the colonel ultimately releases them but begins visiting their farmhouse, raising suspicions about his intentions towards Eva. He even gives her money, adding further intrigue.

As the rebels return, chaos ensues, and Jan experiences a transformative journey. Through these challenging circumstances, he emerges as a symbol of resilience and strength.
