In Feudal Japan, Lord Naritsugu Matsudaira's tyrannical and cruel rule threatens the peace of the nation. As he gets closer to his half-brother, the shogun, Naritsugu's power and influence continue to grow. However, upon witnessing the tragic deaths of Makino Uneme's son and daughter-in-law at the hands of Naritsugu, samurai Shinzaemon Shimada is summoned to take action.
Shinzaemon is tasked by the shogun's advisor, Sir Doi, to assassinate Naritsugu and his samurai. Determined to bring justice and protect the people from further harm, Shinzaemon gathers eleven other skilled samurais to join him in the mission. Together, they devise a strategic plan to ambush Naritsugu during his journey back to his homeland.
However, Hanbei Kitou, a cunning samurai responsible for Naritsugu's security, suspects Shinzaemon's plot. As the group ventures through the treacherous mountains, they encounter Koyata, a skilled hunter who aids them in their mission. With thirteen men ready to sacrifice their lives, they prepare for a perilous battle against Naritsugu's two hundred samurai.
